Traumatic Brain Injuries

Brain injuries often times bring with them long and difficult roads of recovery. Tragically, many times the consequences of brain trauma are permanent and forever alter the course of a victim’s life. If one of your loved ones suffers a brain injury or coma, you need all the help you can get in dealing with it. You need insight and guidance to help you prepare for the long term care and recovery of your loved one. You need to know that your loved one will be provided with the proper care if something were to happen to you. Last but not least, you need a way to achieve the compensation and justice that your loved one deserves if his injury was caused by another party’s negligence. At the Law Office of Richard Kenny, we promise to earnestly advocate for your loved one and get the compensation that he/she deserves.

Closed Head Injuries

Some head and brain injuries are clearly visible like those from lacerated or bruised heads, or fractured skulls. However, many serious brain injuries can occur and not be noticed for quite some time. When these more subtle injuries go undiagnosed, the brain injuries often become worse and worse due to the lack of treatment.

When the head is impacted with powerful force, the brain can sometimes moves within the skull. This movement can cause tears in brain tissue, brain bleeds, or otherwise brain bruising or swelling. Symptoms of these types of brain injuries may include intense headaches, vomiting, weakness and fatigue. Something else to remember is that sometimes symptoms do not show until weeks after the head injury.

What to do?

Because of both the potential seriousness and undetectable nature of some head injuries, you should seek medical attention if you think there is any chance that you have suffered a brain injury. The sooner the injury is identified, the greater the chance that treatment is effective. Treatment that immediately follows serious brain injuries attempts to stabilize the patient, once stable doctors can move onto longer term treatment. Although brain injuries are generally considered more difficult to treat than some other medical problems, there are techniques to restore brain functionality after accidents in most cases.

The staff at The Law Office of Richard Kenny has over a century of combined experience handling brain injury cases; we understand the struggles and anguish that families and victims can go through as a result of these types of injuries. If you or a loved one suffers a brain injury as a result of someone else’s negligence, our staff will work tirelessly to not only get compensation but we also work with the best medical professionals in New York to make sure your family gets the best treatment possible.
