Traffic accidents in New York City are inevitable with the number of vehicles and pedestrians on the roads at any one time during the day or night. These may occur because of driver negligence, reckless or aggressive driving or careless pedestrians, as well as other circumstances. When there is a disproportionate number of motor vehicle crashes on a particular street or intersection, the problem could be due to a lack of appropriate traffic regulation.
One such intersection has been the source of more than one accident, those in the neighborhood claim. They report vehicles traveling through the area at dangerous speeds, with little law enforcement activity. Whether this particular traffic violation is the cause of several recent crashes is not clear.
In one case, the collision involved a car and a small school bus. While it is not immediately obvious who is at fault in the crash, the car moving through the intersection rammed into the side of a bus full of children. The impact from the smaller vehicle was strong enough to knock the bus over, injuring several of the students and at least one adult.
It is not uncommon for more than one factor to be implicated in the cause of a crash. When people are injured as a result, uncovering the fault of all parties involved may be essential in ensuring that the victims receive the help they need to recover from the physical, financial and emotional strain of the event. An attorney may be able to provide legal assistance in holding those responsible for the crash liable for the damages.
