Calls For Agency Action On Railroad X-ings In NJ

Recently, we blogged on a crash between an SUV and a Metro-North train at a railroad crossing in Valhalla, NY. The crash and resulting fire killed several people. Now, a legislator in New Jersey is calling on the New Jersey Department of Transportation to take action on a railroad crossing in Elmwood Park, NJ. U.S. Rep. Bill Pacrell sent a letter to the Department asking the Department to find money to “fix” the crossing, which the Representative wrote is particularly dangerous for several reasons, including sharp turns, side roads, and driveways nearby.
